I was also wondering if I can also put classes taken on a college allpication if they were not accredited?I can also croquet, sew, embroider, and scrapbook a little. I;m really good at scrapbooking though.I have to go to a Christian private school. Will this effesct my chances of getting in?This is wha the school website says under accredited:Chisholm Trail Academy is accredited by the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges and Universities which is a recognized member of the National Council for Private School Accreditation and the Texas Private School Commission and is recognized as accredited by the Texas Education Agency.Does this mean I can only go to a college in Texas?Or is it possible for me to go to an ivy league? My gpa will be atleast a 3.8 or higher.and my SAT about 1900. I will also take the ACT and I do pretty good on those sort of things.

i no how to spell im in a hurry!

If your schools is accredited by an agency the state recognizes, any school in the country will accept your credits. Although that’s really something you should have checked 4 years ago.

Your class list looks pretty typical. We can’t tell you anything about where you’ll get in with knowing GPA, SAT scores, and class standing. The Ivies turn down a lot more people than they take, including many valedictorians, straight-A students, and perfect SAT scorers.

If you took classes in those other things you mentioned, they’ll already be on your transcript.

If your grades were good you can add that.

So I’m 13, and I’m starting to plan my quinceanera. Its like a sweet 16 but for 15. Its a spanish tradition. (Im puerto rican) I dont want it to be like a "normal" alice in wonderland party. I want it to be reallly trippy. With a lot of rainbow ballons, funky lighting, a funky topsy turvey cake. Like this one:

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/154/399510193_ed439905ed.jpg

just different colors and designs. My court will all be dressed up as characters from AIW, and im going to be "Alice" and my mom is going to be the "queen of hearts" I want to have a desk at one side of the room with a rvaen on it, pieces of paper, and a pen so guest can leave me notes to put in the ravens cage. (The raven is going to be a stuffed one from a crafts store.) And i want to put up on the wall right near the desk the saying of Why is a raven like a writing desk. I want white rabbit foot prints all over the floors. And i want my mom to sit in a high thone like looking chair since she is the queen. And i want to have a siting place for me on a mushroom. (not a real one :P ) I want the entrace to have fake little trees with with white and red roses. And the entrance to have these like silver streamers and the door frame outlined in gold to look like a mirror. And a sign saying enter wonderland through the looking glass. I want the halls to look real trippy, with designs on the wall in way weird colors. I want the courts table to be like this extra long table, with all sorts fo tea pots and plates and things like in the movie, in the part of the mad tea party. All the toher guests tables with have tea cups and plates, and little bottles saying drink me and cupcakes and cookies saying eat me in the midle of the table.I want a chess game somewhere, and a croquet game too. And flamingos in some places as well. The table wear the cake will be at will have cookies and cupcakes saying eat me too. And the food table with have more little bottles, a punch bowl, and different things to eat. I want have a funky dress. And i want white and red roses at different part of the room, with silver paint cans that have a red brish here and there to amke it seem like the roses where painted. I want to have a hookah on a clear table some where. And i want to have funky shiney shoes. And ive been thinking of putting my cats in a certain room, and have that room be the pet the cheshire cats room. I also want to have a stage so a band can go up there if i do get a band. And i also would like one wall to say Happy Merry Un-birthday to Genesis or somthing. I also would like random purple grins and eyes around the room to be the cheshire cat. Id also like to have funky fabric in some places. i really dont know why. I also want to have a mirror for guest to sign but i dont know about that…..
And i want my entrance to be the song Brick by Boring Brick by PAramore to be plaing, and durin the instrumental part at the begginging The white rabbit comes out of this area and into the room of the party saying "Im late im late im late!" and i follow him saying mr rabbit wait! and then all the toehr characters come out, and ending with my mom saying "Off with their heads!"

What do you think about that? And do you have any other ideas? Also how much do you think this will cost? Most of the decoratiosn will be paper, liek the rabits feel and cat grins and stuff. My mom can make those with her scrapbooking machine the cricut.

And i want to have the party at a hotel ballroom, maybe so i can have enough room.OR a theatre lobby. And the dress i chose will be pretty cheap. $220 while most others are $600.

Thanks in advanced(:

ALICE IN WONDERLAND IS SOOOOOOO AMAZING!!!!!! If you had a party like that and I was invited, I would be your friend forever…

Get good SAT/ACT scores is about all i can see wrong with your list, and you haven’t taken those yet!
You are involved with your church, school, and community, you take advanced classes and get good grades, you are planning ahead and making good choices.
Keep up the good work!

Basically like all other present high school seniors, I am starting the application process. I go to a private college preparatory school where high standards are set for even what th school considers "regular" classes (most of the time the texts are from the university level). I am interested in applying to Stanford mostly because I felt comfortable on its campus, what it has to offer (many different degrees), and it is a gateway to further success. As of right now, I am undecided in my major, but my interests lie in creativity, science, writing, and math.

Here are my statistics: (the school requires Religion)
9th – Honors Geometry, Honors Lit, Honors Biology, Spanish 1, Studio Art, Computer/Geography, and Religion
10th – Honors Algebra 2, Honors Lit, Honors Chemistry, Honors Spanish 2, Art/Expository Composition, World History, and Religion
11th – Honors Lit, Honors Spanish 3, Honors Pre-Calculus, AP English Language, AP Psychology, Physics, US History, and Religion
12th – AP Government, AP Environmental Science, AP Geography, Human Anatomy, Lit, Calculus, and Religion

GPA: weighted 4.24, unweighted 3.71
ACT: 29
SAT II: Math 2: 660 (will be taking 2 more in Oct.)

Extracurriculars:
Key Club (Publicist on the board, community service club)
scrapbooking Club (President)
CSF (10-15 tutoring hours per semester)
National Honor Society
Books and Blankies (makes quilts for charity and President)
Volleyball (only one year due to medical problems)

(Mother did not go to college.)

What do you think for Stanford? What other colleges would you recommend? (Please from personal experience only though). Thank you!

you know, stanford is a crapshoot. but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try, just know that plenty of qualified people get rejected from there all the time, as with other ivie leagues and really competitive schools in general.
but anyway: your classes seem like a good difficulty level.. your gpa is obviously fantastic. some people may say it should be higher, but personally i think its ridiculous that a 3.7 can’t be considered good. it is good lol.
your sat 2 score could be better. study hard for the other two, try to get in the 700s, and maybe not send the math one in.
what are your SAT scores? they could make a big difference, either in a good way or a bad way. DO WELL ON THEM. really well.

you’ve got a bunch of extracurriculars so thats good. what are your SPECIFIC interests? science, math, writing, and creativity are quite broad catagories lol. any career plans your considering? think about if there is a link between any of your extracurricular activities and your interests/career plans.
write an amazing essay, and make a good impression on interviews.

its hard to recommend colleges when we don’t know your specific interests, or preferences in terms of size, climate, location etc… and also possible majors you might have.

Your GPA looks good, but your ACT and SAT II scores are a little low. I would suggest at least a 34 on the ACT, and at least a 700 on Math 2. Also, you should take the SAT rather than the ACT. Top colleges want both the SAT with SAT IIs, so since you’re already taking SAT IIs, you should go with the SAT as well (I think it looks better than the ACT).

A good tip would be to take an SAT II on a subject you don’t do as well in at school. Let’s say you don’t do well in history – then a good idea is to take the US History SAT II to show colleges that your school history grades are not necessarily a reflection of your history skills.

You have a good list of extracurriculars, and you have a great GPA, but you just have to work on your ACT and SAT II score.

I love being Black. I love being called Black. I love being an American.

I love being a Black American, but as a Black man in this country I think it’s a shame that every few years we get a change of name.

Since those first ships arrived here from Africa that came across the sea there were already Black men in this country who were free.

And as for those that came over here on those terrible boats, they were called niggah and slave and told what to do and how to behave.

And then master started trippin’ and doing his midnight tippin’, down to the slave shacks where he forced he and Great-Great Grandma to be together, and if Great-Great Grandpa protested, he got tarred and feathered.

And at the same time, the Black men in the country who were free, were mating with the tribes like the Apache and the Cherokee.

And as a result of all that, we’re a parade of every shade.

And as in this late day and age, you can be sure, they ain’t too many of us in this country whose bloodline is pure.

But, according to a geological, geographical, genealogy study published in Time Magazine, the Black African people were the first on the scene, so for what it’s worth, the Black African people were the first on earth and through migration, our characteristics started to change, and rearrange, to adapt to whatever climate we migrated to.

And that’s how I became me, and you became you.

So, if we gonna go back, let’s go all the way back, and if Adam was Black and Eve was Black, then that kind of makes it a natural fact that everybody in America is an African American.

Everybody in Europe is an African European; everybody in the Orient is an African Asian and so on and so on, that is, if the origin of man is what we’re gonna go on.

And if one drop of Black blood makes you Black like they say, then everybody’s Black anyway.

So quit trying to change my identity.

I’m already who I was meant to be I’m a Black American, born and raised.

And brother James Brown wrote a wonderful phrase, “Say it loud, I’m Black and I’m proud! Say it loud, I’m Black and I’m proud!”

Cause I’m proud to be Black and I ain’t never lived in Africa, and ’cause my Great-Great Granddaddy on my Daddy’s side did, don’t mean I want to go back.

Now I have nothing against Africa, it’s where some of the most beautiful places and people in the world are found.

But I’ve been blessed to go a lot of places in this world, and if you ask me where I choose to live, I pick America, hands down.

Now, by and by, we were called Negroes, and after while, that name has vanished.

Anyway, Negro is just how you say ‘black’ in Spanish.

Then, we were called colored, but shit, everybody’s one color or another, and I think it’s a shame that we hold that against each other.

And it seems like we reverted back to a time when being called Black was an insult, even if it was another Black man who said it, a fight would result, cause we’ve been so brainwashed that Black was wrong, So that even the yellow niggahs and black niggahs couldn’t get along.

But then, came the 1960s when we struggled and died to be called equal and Black, and we walked with pride with our heads held high and our shoulders pushed back, and Black was beautiful.

But, I guess that wasn’t good enough, cause now here they come with some other stuff.

Who comes up with this anyway?

Was it one, or a group of niggahs sitting around one day?

Feelin’ a little insecure again about being called Black and decided that African American sounded a little more exotic.

Well, I think you were being a little more neurotic.

It’s that same mentality that got “Amos and Andy” put off the air, cause they were embarrassed about the way the character’s spoke.

And as a result of that action, a lot of wonderful Black actors ended up broke.

When we were just laughin’ and have fun about ourselves.

Why you keep trying to attach yourself to a continent, where if you got the chance and you went, most people there would even claim you as one of them; as a pure bread daughter or son of them.

Your heritage is right here now, no matter what you call yourself or what you say And a lot of people died to make it that way.

And if you think America is a leader on inequality and suffering and grievin’, how come there so many people comin’ and so few leavin’?

Rather than all this ‘find fault with America’ you promotin’, if you want to change something, use your privilege, get to the polls!

Commence to votin’!

God knows we’ve earned the right to be called American Americans and be free at last.

And rather than you movin’ forward progress, you dwelling in the past.

We’ve struggled too long; we’ve come too far.

Instead of focusing on who we were, let’s be proud of who we are.

We are the only people whose name is always a trend.

When is this gonna end?

Look at all the different colors of our skin…
